TERMS & CONDITIONS
When choosing to rent SFMW Rentals pieces you are agreeing to the below terms and conditions, regarding how you will take care of and return the garment. Failure to comply with payment regarding late fees and or damage will result in SFMW Rentals passing the matter to a debt collection agency.
SFMW Rentals have always been passionate about sustainability, originally starting out selling preloved and vintage clothing (you can still find this Instagram account @stolen_from_my_wardrobe) in hopes to play my part in minimising fast fashion. The same trait has been continued for our rentals, all rentals come with a thank you card (we are working on more sustainable packaging) we ask if you can please return this card when you are finished with your rental to minimise waste.

General:
As stated in all product descriptions, you will treat the item with respect as if it is your own. If you are to disrespect the item and or the terms and conditions we will refuse any further rentals to you.
You must enter your email and phone number with every booking made, this is primarily to ensure we can contact you regarding tracking or pick-up times.
DO NOT clean the rentals, this is done by SFMW Rentals upon return of the item.
No refunds will be given unless the item is faulty upon arrival (which is highly unlikely). So to ensure the dress fits and you like the style, try-ons are highly recommended before your event - whether this is postal or in person.
Contact us ASAP if you are wanting to cancel a rental. You can not cancel a rental once it has been posted which is done at the start of every week (Mon-Wed). If you give 5 days' notice to cancel a rental you will be issued store credit.
If your event is cancelled due to COVID then you are eligible to receive store credit. To receive store credit your item can't have been sent and your event must have been cancelled/postponed due to COVID.
Returns and Late Fees:
By reading these terms you agree to return the garment in its original condition (we understand that it is common for outfits to get dirty, so below only applies if it is damaged).
- If there is excessive damage to the rental in that it requires extra attention such as a dry cleaner or seamstress, then you are required to cover the cost of this and will be invoiced.
- If the dress is damaged beyond repair then you are required to pay a replacement fee. This will vary per dress as it is the retail value of the item and will be invoiced to you.
- If the dress isn't returned within 7 days (unless agreed upon) then you will be invoiced the late fee for 7 days plus the replacement fee, as it creates stress for both SFMWRentals and the next customer in line wanting to rent - again being invoiced to you.
- Late fees occur after the day you are expected to return the rental or postal try-on, being charged $20 every day it is late.
Pick Up Orders:
You will receive a text or email (decided by you when booking) when your order is ready to be picked up. If you have a weekend event this will typically be on a Thursday or Friday.
When returning your orders you need to ensure that this is done the next working day to the same address as stated on your pick-up instructions.
Postal Orders:
We send all of our packages with overnight tracking, with New Zealand Post.
Inside your postal order you will have;
- Your rented item
- A thank you & terms and conditions card
- A prepaid return bag that is already filled out, that you must use when shipping back to us
Your garment must be sent the next working day after your event, this is done by putting the rental into the return bag along with the card and handing it over the counter (Important) at the nearest NZ Post shop.
We have the tracking details of the returned bag and can see when they have been updated or not. Failing to return the item by the specified date will result in $20 late fees being invoiced.
Postal Order Cut Offs:
We encourage you to book your rental in advance to avoid missing out and postal delays. SFMW Rentals post-Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Morning (with the current postal delays we recommend Tuesday at the latest).
If your order has been placed on Wednesday at 1 pm and you are needing the dress for the same Saturday, it is possible but we advise against it. This is because if your rental does not arrive to you on time SFMW Rentals will not issue a refund or give out store credit vouchers.
Once the dress is collected for pick up by New Zealand Post it is out of SFMW Rentals' hands, there is nothing more we can do. We encourage each renter to keep up to date with tracking details and to call NZ Post first - then update us on the situation either via email or Instagram DM.
Sometimes getting your dress out by Wednesday isn't possible, due to late returns or repairs. In these cases, we will contact you as early as possible to sort out an alternative solution which may include picking an alternative dress from our collection.
Postal Try-Ons:
SFMW Rentals do offer postal try-ons for customers who aren't based in Hamilton wanting to try on a dress before they rent.
There is a flat rate charge of $30 including shipping expenses - for 2 dresses of your choice.
Once the postal arrives to you, try on the garment and send them back with the return bag inside the next working day. This efficiency is necessary to ensure that the next person in line doesn't miss out due to a late return. Should it be returned late or we find out a garment was worn to an event the full rental price or late return fees will be charged.
Try Ons:
As try-ons are located in Hamilton at my place of residence we ask that you are respectful of the space and other people at this residence. This includes, parking on the road, not moving any extra items (ie mirror) apart from the dresses and taking care of the dresses ensuring not to tear or stain any of the pieces you are trying on.
